    Hi all

Newbie to MetroCount, as I’m more the IT guy than the traffic analyst.  My client has 1073   .EC0 files that need converting for the uploading to another program.  The process of converting one file is quite lengthy:

    – Transform data file

    – New report

    – Add the transformed file

    – Custom List Report

    – Local Profile | Classes | Check all

    – Save report as…    .txt file

Obviously, it would take a very long time to convert 1073 files.  I’ve searched for a way to convert multiple files but could not find a solution.  I’m a programmer, so I’m interested in the scripting language for MetroCount.

Does anyone have any ideas for finding a bulk conversion procedure, perhaps through the scripting language?

    Thanks in advance.

    Lloyd

Hi Lloyd, thanks for the query.

We can certainly run a batch script on the number of files you are interested in. This requires MetroCount receiving these files (say, on a CD), upgrading the files and returning them with a written script you can use in MTE.

Can you tell me the organization you are from and the MTE version you are using?

We would then contact you directly to discuss, firstly, is this the best report for your end-goal, and then the process to upgrade the files.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Regards,

    Maurice

    Hi Maurice

Sorry, for the delayed response – I wrongly anticipated that I would get an email if someone replied.

That sounds great.  I work for Opus International Consultants in Nelson, New Zealand.

We are using MTE v 3.2 (MCReport Version 3.21.15275.0 and MCSetup Version 3.21.3888.0)

You can email me at the address in my profile.  I also added you on LinkedIn if that’s easier.

Thanks for your offer to help. I look forward to talking further.

    Regards,

    Lloyd

    Hi Lloyd,

To summarise our discussions, I understand you need to process the 1,073 files into the RAMM report for uploading to RAMM Software database.

I understand your first task is to change the initially entered Site Name for each survey as they currently do not include the required format of 3-digit LA number; Road number; and SLK survey location reference. This requires a manual input on your behalf.

We also reviewed your current process for analysis of the datafiles using MTE and I believe we immediately reduced some inefficient steps from the report creation process.

The next step would be – if you and your client agree – to have MetroCount create the required reports for you, as one order.

Let me know your thoughts on this and look forward to assisting with your traffic data analyses.

    Regards,

    Maurice

    Hi Maurice

Thanks very much for your help with this.  It is most appreciated, as are your prompt and informative responses online and offline.  I’ll keep you posted on what the client requests.

    Regards,

    Lloyd
