The unique RoadPod® PhaseT incorporates sensors connected to traffic lights or/and boom gate systems. The synchronisation between these signals and the roadside unit enables a clear representation of road activity during each phase and helps identify safety risks associated with insufficient time limits or/and traffic violations.
The RoadPod PhaseT is a mobile traffic classifier that stores every axle that passes over its pneumatic tubes. Its additional optical fibre interface allows the accurate detection and recording of changing signal phases in parallel with traffic data.

1. Set up Phase Maps
Traffic signals and crossing systems can use preset templates or custom Phase Maps in the MTE software, where each phase(e.g. descending boom, red flash alert) and their timings are defined.

2. Install the Counter
Attach the counter to a pole that is easily connected to the barrier controls or traffic lights. After linking the optical fibre sensors, install the tubes, and data collection will begin immediately.

3. Analyse Your Data
All synchronised information merges into one dataset, feeding the Phase Analysis Report which reveals risky behaviors like amber light acceleration and signal violations.
Leicestershire County Council recently deployed MetroCount’s RoadPod PhaseT traffic monitoring system to successfully validate a red light camera at a busy intersection.
