The Data That Decides Whether Bike Lanes Stay

I recently spent time with some of the cycling infrastructure the City of Greater Bendigo has been monitoring for more than five years using MetroCount RidePod® BP systems. The Ellis Street kerb-separated bike lane is a standout, and there's plenty more worth seeing, for example, the Long Gully Trail, sections of Havlin, Hargreaves and Knight Streets, and Cashens Road.
What makes these sites interesting is that Bendigo has a half-decade of continuous bike monitoring data sitting behind them, which is rare, and it changes the kind of conversation you can have about what's actually working.
That theme followed me to the Australian Local Government Association congress, where two sessions stuck with me.
