The Governor of Western Australia, His Excellency Kim Beazley, and the Honourable Bill Johnston MLA presented MetroCount the award at Government House alongside 12 other Export Award category winners.
This is an astounding accomplishment that celebrates our commitment to green business practices and the environment. It considered MetroCount’s efforts to:
- Design and build an energy-efficient, solar-powered headquarters and manufacturing facility.
- Continually upgrade our solar system to produce a whopping 40KW of clean, uninterrupted power that runs the main office, production facility, international servers and charge the company car – an electric Renault Zoe.
- Offer end-of-trip facilities such as hot showers and secure/covered bike parking to encourage employees to ride or walk to work.
- Plant 10 trees in developing countries with every traffic counter we sell (in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects).
- Source materials and services wherever possible from local businesses.
- Design and manufacture all our products for extreme energy efficiency and to work off-grid.
- Avoid planned obsolescence with products built to last decades.
- Continuously increase our R&D, product range and advocacy of sustainable transport modes.
- Support employees to attend the Global Climate Strike and code the MetroCount website to also participate in the strike.
