Applications
Accurately monitor two+ unidirectional lanes
In a short tube - long tube configuration, the RoadPod VT4 accurately gathers volume, class, speed and direction data from two lanes of a unidirectional carriageway. A combo of systems can simultaneously record data from up to eight lanes.
Reduce road maintenance costs
Accurate data from adjacent lanes will often reveal patterns, such as a high volume of heavy vehicles preferring to travel in a certain lane. This type of information helps prioritise pavement works and significantly reduces costs through a more targeted approach.
Monitor two lanes with opposite traffic flow
Placed on a median strip, the RoadPod VT4 will record the vehicle volume, class and speed from two adjacent roads, regardless of the direction of traffic.Opening new survey opportunities
The VT4 system enables short-term, comprehensive data collection from all lanes of busy traffic highways. Using four pneumatic tubes, one counter can simultaneously collect data from two neighbouring traffic lanes.
The two data communication channels are set up together but collect data from individual lanes. During the setup, a strict lockdown is introduced to block data from the short tube lane from also being recorded by the long tubes. The two lanes of traffic are further distinguished during the unloading process, resulting in two highly accurate and comprehensive datasets.
